Radio Bubble will let you send one message per day. Once in a while it will display messages from other people. The rest of the time it will just sit on your desktop and look pretty.

If the creator reads this and decides to update the bubble, please add a option to resize, maybe message archives. Otherwise, this is great! Funny how it works without internet for me.

Wonder if it's ever gonna get updated lol. if not it's still great imo

you misspelled incoming. you wrote it as INCOMMING

(+1)

i adore this.

(+3)

always have it in the corner of my screen 4 the past 6 months <3 doooo note tho that theres no filter on it at all, n rarely u will see something hateful

(+3)

Loving the app. Beautiful concept and execution. I'm hoping to see some changes like showing more recent messages and resizing. But I do like the app as it is. Great work!

just like an illustion

(+1)

My game crashes after i send message :(

(+1)

the buble keeps diying a few seconds after i send a message

me too:

Mysterious, might be something with the messages from others its downloading causing an error. Can't reproduce the issue on my end right now, alas.

(+2)

so, how do I send my daily message

(+3)

Hi

(+6)

write your message here and it will be sent across the radio bubbles

(+6)

so true horsie

(+3)

this is quite honestly my favorite app ive ever downloaded off of itch, its really nice to just be able to send shit just to be able to like get it off your chest and stuff ya know?

i love how so many people on there are so kind (or at least most of the ppl ive encountered).

and i love just the whole premise of the thing.

if anyone wants to know im LilaLeDino 88.6hz

how long do messages delay by?

interesting, i got one of my own messages displayed a day after i sent it so maybe its a glitch :p, i also got a duplicate message, same person sent the same message two days in a row which might just be like them actually sending the same message two days in a row lol

alr lol, i do have a question tho, so even tho its not real time, is the message pool reset at the end of each day?, like it doesnt pull from messages submitted months ago right?

sure does lol, might add something like a probability dropoff proportional to message age in the distant hypothetical future but rn it's just getting a random index in range

unfortunately no, not in the current version

(+2)

i've had it running for about an hour and i just feel more and more charmed by it. now it's got me wondering if there are similar concepts or apps out there, any other sort of amateur mass broadcasting site/program. anyone know of other things like this?

(+1)

i really adore this. i just wish i could resize the bubble, and i wish it only showed recent messages, even if they'd be much less frequent that way. one message said today was a sad day for reproductive rights in america, which i have to assume was written back in june. feels more special if you know the messages are recent

This is such a cute and cool idea:)

(+2)

is there anyway to change youre name? idek if i entered one lmao i was confused when it first booted up

Love the idea, the visuals, execution - just everything. Great addition to a desktop, especially when running multiple monitors. Some settings like custom colors would be pretty cool tho.

(+1)

Was Just wondering how this program works, is it server based or Actual radio frequencies?

(+5)

its built around google sheets (not joking)

(+2)

Frankly, wow,  impressive

(+3)

Love this app, would really recommend, it's all the good of social media distilled.

I was wondering if there is there anyway to make the blob smaller on the screen? takes up quite alot of space on my 4k laptop display.

(+2)

there is no way to do that yet

very cool!!!

(+2)

My biggest struggle is that the area of the bubble is much larger than the bubble itself. This is problem because the bubble blocks my clicks when they are well outside of the where it displays. In the image, the bubble blocks clicking in that entire area.

weird, its only supposed to block clicks in the square bounding box, will look into it at some point

Thank you :) I'm running Windows 10, if that helps.

(1 edit) (+1)

If you grab ShareX and point it at Radio Bubble, it'll show the box is almost twice the size of the circle... So, yeah, it's blocking clicks in its bounding box, but its bounding box is too large.

I am going to set up a dedicated display device to run this in my room

Broken

Got rickrolled :(

Unfortunately, it causes all sorts of graphical bugs on other apps in MacOS 10.14 (Mojave).

I haven't tested it too much, but browsers and electron apps appear to be affected far more easily.

Here's the log:

Suggestions:

  • The ability to resize the bubble
  • A (likely hidden) option/config setting to load the app in a regular window without transparency if the issue above can't be fixed easily.
(+1)

hey, thanks for the report. I only tested it out on macOS 12 and it worked fine there. I dont think we will be able to get to this soon but I agree with you that idealy we should allow you to launch it without transparency as a way of working around this.

(+2)

hey, how do i change my name? i messed it up. thanks on advance!

(+2)

Delete your save data. It should be in the standard Godot saves folder, if ve remember correctly.

how would one do that?

i wont lie- theres nothing in this reply :'

oh lmao, there was supposed to be an image kinda like this

Nice idea Plus it looks cool

(1 edit) (+4)

I just want to change the station name. I screwed up the title and have no motivation to use it since I can't erase my data :(

same

(+3)

Hi again! My other request is to minimize the task to the tray.

(+4)

I really like this but dragging the window around is really janky and difficult on my setup.

It would be really cool if the animation acted as a music visualizer since I usually have music playing in the background and it fits the theme.

(+2)

Just purchased this, and I think it's awesome. I agree with killhour here that a music visualizer would be a cool option feature.

(+2)

hmmm, that’s a very cool idea but i’m not sure how to make that work. will look into something like that in the near future

I did something similar in Unity using CSCore.  Here's a video (warning for flashing lights):

Not sure how easy that is to adapt to Godot, but I'm happy to offer any advice or help I can.
(+1)

i just installed it and it looks amazing, i LOVE this concept but i must be missing something... i don't see where i could write my message :/

do i have to wait 24h to write my first message or something?

you should be able to send a message after booting up and setting your name for the first time. then, every new day, you should be able to do that again.

it's cool! but van you make a way to make it smaller.

(+3)

Honestly just sending and receiving positive vibes in this is so cool. I hope the playerbase keeps up! I love just seeing what everyone has to say!

I know updates are unlikely but the one thing I would suggest is a character count so you know when you're nearing the limit!

(+1)

noted for the future!

(+4)

isore shared this: "even when im wasting time i feel like im doing it wrong."

Legitimately profound in this day and age.

(+2)

It would be really good if you put more than one message for day

(+3)

Really fun game. Unfortunately...

Oh come on he can't even spell "fuck" right at the end.

(+8)

entirely reasonable reaction to the current state of the world tbh
